Christian Claim: Belief + Experience + Evidence = Assurance
2 x 0 x 0 = 0
2 x 3 x 5 = 30
Belief x Experience x Evidence = Assurance
Many Things Are Bigger Than Science
Dealing With Presuppositions and Unfamiliarity with Evidence:
Science Will Never Be Able To Prove Something Supernatural
Oxford’s definition of science: knowledge about the structure and behaviour of the natural and physical world, based on facts that you can prove, for example by experiments
A resurrection is supernatural, caused by non-physical reason (God), therefore it cannot be proven by science.
Other examples that can not be proven by science are history, ghosts, things that humans can not see or have current knowledge of or understand (everything non-physical and supernatural)
Some usually have trouble accepting anything to do with God, yet are more lenient to accept theories by Physicists or historians in which neither for they have direct access to the entities they are attempting to explain such as parallel universes, the string theory, the Big Bang theory, etc.
These theories and claims are explanations based on evidence for questions. Similarly the resurrection of Jesus can not be proven by science but it is the best explanation based on evidence.
If Science Can’t Prove it then What is the Best Explanation?
People often say “You can’t explain things with God because you can’t prove His existence” (themselves presupposing He doesn’t exist) meanwhile, most do the same; they won’t say there is a supernatural being, but they explain events with things they can not prove; The Big Bang, Evolution, Parallel Universes
The Common Arguments:
1. Real life vs. the Bible’s talking donkey
2. Jesus body was stolen
3. The Big Bang Theory
Why They Fail:
1. If God exists, He can do it
2. Jesus body was never found
3. Can we prove something we can’t see?
Loaded language fallacy: Saying "fairytale often has a specific connotation in our culture that is know to be fiction, by mentioning this word "fairytale" the speaker attempts to sway the audience to make them believe that we are saying something that is viewed as fiction. You can’t say “The Bible is a fairly tale because it has a talking donkey” this argument ignores the evidence for God's existance and confuses 2 claims by mixing them together as if they were the same; ‘the supernatural existence of God’ and ‘the natural evidence for the resurrection’
